Q&A

Is there anything I should do for my first visit?

Treatments are tailored to meet each patient’s individual needs, so not much preparation is needed.

Our initial goal will be to figure out which organ systems are out of balance and create a plan for bringing them back into balance. Typically I do this through a combination of conversation and muscle testing. The approach may draw on acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and, if needed, an individually designed clinical nutrition programs, along with any of the other modalities outlined on this site. Every treatment will be specific to your body and your needs.

A few helpful guidelines are:

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing that can be pulled above the knees and elbows
  • Avoid fasting for more than six hours before your visit
  • Avoid beverages and foods that color your tongue immediately before your appointment

How long is the treatment?

Please allow 1 hour and 15 minutes for the initial visit and 1 hour for follow up acupuncture treatments.

How many treatments will it take?

The frequency of acupuncture treatments varies with each person and depends on the nature of the problem, how long it’s been occurring and your overall health. I often recommend one session per week for chronic conditions and several times per week for more acute problems, which often resolve more quickly. After a thorough evaluation, we create a treatment plan that addresses your individual needs.

Insurance

While we do not participate in any health care insurance plan, we can provide you with an itemized superbill at the end of your visit, which you can directly submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. As individual health care policies vary, we ask that you research your individual coverage.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that sometimes life happens and you need to reschedule or cancel a session. We are happy to reschedule up to 24 hours before your appointment. Cancellations or changes less than 24 hours prior to an appointment will be charged a $50 fee.

Please Keep Cell Phones on “Silent”

With respect for maintaining a peaceful healing space, we ask that you set your phone to “silent” during your visit.

Please Minimize or Avoid Fragrances

We do our best to maintain a fragrance-free environment because many clients have sensitivities and allergies. As a courtesy, we ask that you minimize or avoid perfumes, colognes or scented products before your visit.
